Module 1: Traffic Rules and Signalling (10 Marks)
- Basic Road Rules: Fundamental regulations governing road usage.
- Driving Methods: Correct procedures for maneuvering a vehicle in various traffic conditions.
- Speed Limits: Understanding and adhering to prescribed speed limits in different zones.
Module 2: Understanding Signals (15 Marks)
- 1. Traffic Police Hand Signals: Interpretation of directions given by traffic officers at intersections.
- 2. Hand Signals while Driving: Manual signals used by drivers to indicate turns or stops (e.g., when vehicle indicators are non-functional).
- 3. Traffic Light Signals: Meaning of different colored lights and (arrows) at signalized intersections.
- 4. Road Map Reading: Basic skills for interpreting maps and planning routes, a precursor to modern GPS navigation.
Module 3: Knowledge of Traffic Signage’s for Road Safety (10 Marks)
- Identification and meaning of all regulatory, warning, and informatory signs.
- Understanding road markings (zebra crossings, stop lines, lane markings).
Module 4: Fitness to Drive (15 Marks)
- 1. First Aid Kit: Knowledge of kit contents and basic first aid procedures at an accident scene.
- 2. Good Health & Road Safety: The importance of physical and mental well-being (vision, alertness) for safe driving.
- 3. Driving under influence: The severe dangers and legal consequences of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Module 5: Difficult Driving Conditions (10 Marks)
- 1. Driving on wet surface: Techniques for avoiding hydroplaning and maintaining control on slippery roads.
- 2. Driving in fog: Use of fog lamps, hazard lights, and safe following distances.
- 3. Night driving: Managing headlight glare, high-beam discipline, and reduced visibility.
- 4. Running on pavement: The dangers and legal prohibition of driving on footpaths.
- 5. Brake failure: Emergency procedures to safely stop a vehicle.
- 6. Towing: Safe methods and regulations for towing another vehicle or trailer.
Module 6: Basic Knowledge about provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act (10 Marks)

- Do’s and Don’ts:
- Importance of regular engine tuning (PUC – Pollution Under Control).
- Impact of vehicular pollution on the environment.
- Avoiding unnecessary idling.
Module 8: Awareness about documents required for driving and offence related (15 Marks)
- 1. Registration: Understanding the Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle.
- 2. Licensing: The validity, class, and conditions of a driving license.
- 3. Insurance: Importance of third-party and comprehensive insurance, and what to do in case of an accident.
Module 9: Parts and its repair vehicle (25 Marks) – This is the most practical/heavyweight module
Knowledge of dashboard’s symbols: Recognizing all warning lights (Check Engine, ABS, Airbag, Oil Pressure, Battery Charge).
Knowledge of daily and periodic inspection: Routine checks (tyre pressure, oil, water, lights).
Knowledge of fault diagnosis in tyre and its changing procedure: Identifying tyre wear, punctures, and step-by-step wheel changing.
Knowledge of fuel pump, clutch and brake working and their air bleeding procedure: Basic understanding of these critical systems and how to remove air from hydraulic brake/clutch lines.
Lubrication grades used in vehicle: Understanding oil viscosity ratings (e.g., 10W-30) for engine, transmission, differential, and suspension.
Knowledge about servicing schedule and service centres location: Following manufacturer-recommended maintenance intervals.
Knowledge of different starting methods: Cold start vs. normal start, use of choke (in older vehicles).
